Deadline Extension for Areas Affected by Recent Tragedies

We have extended our Early Decision deadline to Wednesday, November 15, 2017, for any applicants from areas affected by recent natural disasters or the mass shooting in Las Vegas.

Given the destruction and disruption that communities continue to face in the aftermath of recent natural disasters - including hurricanes, earthquakes, flooding and wildfires - we have extended our Early Decision deadline to Wednesday, November 15, 2017, for any applicants from affected areas who could benefit from additional time. We also will extend the deadline to November 15 for students affected by the devastating mass shooting in Las Vegas. We hope this deadline extension helps to relieve some of the stress and anxiety students, families and educators might be feeling. Our thoughts are with the families and communities who are dealing with the anguish and upheaval of these tragedies.

If you are interested in applying Early Decision to Columbia College or Columbia Engineering, please know that you and your school can submit materials to Columbia until 11:59 p.m. (local time) on Wednesday, November 15, 2017. There is no need to request a deadline extension. Additionally, we will approve any fee waiver requests submitted by affected students.

Furthermore, we understand that rescheduled or cancelled SAT and ACT exams this fall may impact the plans of Early Decision applicants. Please be assured that standardized testing completed by the November test date will arrive in time for Early Decision review. November scores should be reported directly to Columbia by the testing agency but do not need to be rushed.

Please do feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns about the first-year application process at 212-854-2522 or ugrad-ask@columbia.edu if we can be of further assistance. We want to assure you that we are committed to working with students who wish to apply to Columbia.

Additionally, Columbia College and The Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science welcome Visiting Student applications from college students who may be displaced due to recent natural disasters. We are extending the October 15 Visiting Student application deadline to December 1 for students from affected areas. Students will be notified of their admissions decisions as soon as possible to allow for better planning, and no later than December 15. Application fees will also be waived for displaced students.

Spring Visiting Students are eligible for on-campus housing. The Visiting Student application and information about financial aid policies are available online. Please do feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns about the Visiting Student Program at 212-854-2522 or ugrad-online@columbia.edu if we can be of further assistance. We want to assure you that we are committed to working with students who wish to apply to Columbia and will do all we can to accommodate interested Visiting Students.
