Jake O. with friends

Jake O.

From the Lions Mouth:
“Classes such as African Civilization and West African History have encouraged me to gain more insight into the inner workings of the continent and its people and to become a part of it on many intellectual and social levels.”
My Columbia Day:
  • 11:00 a.m.

Discuss Origen and Augustine in Early Christinanity, a course in the Religion department that has given me significant insights into the Christian faith.

  • 1:00 p.m.

Grab lunch in John Jay and have a conversation in French to prepare for my Intermediate French class.

  • 4:00 p.m.

Continue a conversation on the Scientific Revolution by discussing Galileo’s Letter to Madame Christina of Lorraine  in Contemporary Civilization.

  • 7:00 p.m.

Meet with the African Students’ Association, where I serve as Social Chair. As a Ghanaian and as an African, it was important to me to connect with people who were interested in the same issues as me and ready to discuss solutions and make an impact on the continent.

  • 9:00 p.m.

End my day with a late-night snack with friends from Subsconcious, which makes great sandwiches.
