Meet Our Students

Rachel G. Water Polo

Rachel G.

Major: Biochemistry
From the Lions Mouth:
“One of my closest friends is actually a philosophy major who I met when we were placed in the same double room during my sophomore year. The fact that we had taken the same Core classes gave us an instant connection which has been one of the main building blocks of our friendship.”
My Extracurricular Activities:
My Columbia Day:
  • 10:35 a.m.

Go to Introduction to Electricity, Magnetism, and Optics, where we are discussing magnetic fields and currents.

  • 4:00 p.m.

Meet with my faculty advisor, Professor Virginia Cornish ’91CC, from my Student Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) that I held this past summer. I’ve conducted research on organic chemistry with her for several semesters after reaching out to her once I arrived on campus.

  • 7:00 p.m.

Have dinner at Pisticci to get the best pasta in the area with my friends from the CU Culinary Society – where else would we meet but in a delicious restaurant?

  • 9:30 p.m.

End my day with a vigorous practice with the women’s water polo club, a way for me to continue my love of swimming and stay involved with a club team. I’ve enjoyed having the chance to travel within New York State for tournaments, but still balance my schedule to be both a student and an athlete.
