Meet Our Students

From the Lions Mouth:
“The absolute best part of Columbia is the Core. I love that the centerpiece of our school spirit is academic and that every student is an active part of this. I love that I could walk into Carman and starting talking to anyone in the elevator about Dante, Austen or Cervantes, and that it encourages us to approach our academic life together as a community of learners. The small, intimate environment of the Core spreads to other classes, so professors can quote Plato and expect us to understand it, even in other disciplines. I definitely underestimated the extent to which the Core enriches the depth of discussion in a really meaningful way.”
My Extracurricular Activities:
My Columbia Day:
  • 10:00 a.m.

Take in the conversation in my Intermediate French II course.

  • 11:00 a.m.

Discuss the United Nations and its organizations for emergency response in Law, Ethics, and Policy of International Intervention, a Political Science seminar.

Meet with the Academic Awards Committee (AAC). Each year, the AAC presents the Van Doren and Trilling Awards to distinguished Columbia professors. Argue both for and against the issue of government support of free speech in President Bollinger’s course, Freedom of Speech and Press.

  • 6:10 p.m.

Attend Introduction to Statistics, taught by Professor Sheela Kolluri.

  • 8:00 p.m.

Head downtown with friends to grab dinner at Ignazio’s Pizza in Brooklyn - the pizza is fabulous, and the view of the Manhattan skyline is unbeatable.
