Meet Our Students

Majors: English, Mathematics
From the Lions Mouth:
“Morningside Heights is a tiny college town in the heart of the largest city in the country. Walking down the street, you run into other students, your professors and local figures, making you feel like you have a home base. But after a short subway ride south, you can go to the Met, visit Occupy Wall Street or go to Lincoln Center for an opera. Professors assign museum visits or cultural performances the way they assign books, connecting a Columbian education to New York City.”
My Columbia Day:
  • 9:00 a.m.

Prepare for my show on WBAR, Barnard’s College Radio, later in the evening.

  • 11:00 a.m.

Attend Making and Breaking Codes, led by Dorian Goldfield. Learning cryptology from one of the scholars who basically pioneered modern code is awesome.

  • 2:40 p.m.

Discuss some of Tony Kushner’s (CC ’78) works in Contemporary American Drama.

  • 4:00 p.m.

Head over to Health Services to serve as an Advocate for the Gay Health Advocacy Project. I meet students from all across Columbia as a peer counselor, where I do HIV counseling and testing. People really respond to talking to peer, rather than a doctor.

  • 7:00 p.m.

Grab dinner with friends at Max Soha – I love their Penne Siciliana.

  • 10:00 p.m.

Meet with my fellow RAs to discuss our monthly projects. RAs are a really tight-knit community and we always work together to get to know residents and help them adjust to life as a student.
