Meet Our Students

Matt W.

From the Lions Mouth:
“My favorite assignment was writing an original song for Literature Humanities, based on To the Lighthouse by Virginia Woolf. I put it on YouTube, and it ended up getting a lot of views. With some friends, we produced it professionally and created a music video. I really enjoyed the creative process that came out of the assignment!”
My Extracurricular Activities:
My Columbia Day:
  • Go to my Language and the Brain class, where we are discussing the cognitive processes behind reading, writing, speaking and listening.

  • Attend Drugs and Behavior with Dr. Carl Hart. It’s a class that examined the cultural, historical, and biological impact of different drugs, and I’ve enjoyed having a different perspective on the field of psychology.

  • Attend a meeting of an international students group, where everyone is welcomed. It’s great to meet students from all over the world, and our conversations and interactions have been a large part of my “global” experience on campus.

  • Go to a jazz concert for my Salsa, Soca, and Reggae class with Chris Washburne, a class I am taking to fulfill the Global Core requirement. My assignment is to interview the band members for a paper, and it’s great to get to meet musicians who know our music faculty here.
