clubs and organizations – the most interesting, rewarding, close-knit and fun Columbia micro-communities
The Multicultural Recruitment Committee (MRC) is a volunteer group of current Columbia students who work closely with the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and are committed to recruiting a vibrant and dynamic first-year class. Learn more about these students and their journeys to and through Columbia.
History and Mission
The MRC was formed in the 1960s by Columbia undergraduates to create a number of programs that addressed diversity and multiculturalism. Today, members of the MRC assist the admissions staff to identify, recruit and yield students from historically underrepresented groups (students of color, first-generation college students, families from high-need backgrounds). Undergraduate student interns chair the MRC and provide a bridge between the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and the student body. They work closely with other current undergraduates on outreach efforts and provide a vital role in the recruitment mission.
