Engineering Preview at Columbia

Columbia Engineering and Columbia Undergraduate Admissions are proud to host the Engineering Preview at Columbia each fall. The Engineering Preview at Columbia (EPC) is a selective, three-day, two-night program for students interested in learning more about Columbia Engineering's unique educational experience. EPC is designed to serve students who may have had less formal exposure to engineering. This fully funded experience includes hotel and travel arrangements for students and one parent/guardian to learn more about Columbia Engineering, explore engineering opportunities in New York and participate in college admissions workshops.

About the Engineering Preview at Columbia

Each fall, Columbia Engineering offers an all-expenses paid, selective program designed for high school seniors who are interested in learning about our unique engineering education. Participants will have the opportunity to meet current Columbia Engineering students, discover the opportunities available in New York City and learn more about the college application process.

Program Details

EPC will take place over three days and two nights from Sunday, October 13, to Tuesday, October 15, 2024 on Columbia's Morningside Heights campus in New York City. Columbia will fund and arrange hotel and travel accommodations, including air, rail and ground transportation, for the student and one parent/guardian. All meals and snacks during the program will be provided for the student as well.

Highlights of EPC typically include:

  • World-class faculty and research: Students will meet members of Columbia’s renowned faculty and visit our world-class research centers.
  • The NYC advantage: Students will experience New York City and the unparalleled cultural, research, career and entrepreneurship opportunities at our doorstep.
  • Inside look at life as a Columbian: Students will experience campus life and meet current students. In previous years, participants have met student leaders from a variety of student organizations such as Engineers Without Borders, the National Society of Black Engineers, the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers, the Native American Council and the Society of Women Engineers.
  • Understanding the admissions process: Students will participate in comprehensive college admissions and financial aid workshops conducted by Columbia Undergraduate Admissions and Columbia Financial Aid & Educational Financing staff.

student:

My college search process began my junior year of high school near the summer. I began working on my college application and looking for fly in programs or other opportunities to visit schools and learn more about their programs. Eventually, I found Columbia's fly-in program and took part in what was one of the best programs of my life. Following that, I finished up my applications, but only submitted my ED application which was to Columbia. Fortunately after being accepted, I committed then and there and awaited beginning my academic experience at Columbia.
