Shotokan Karate

The Shotokan Karate Club's goal is to practice Shotokan Karate as a martial art at the highest level. We are affiliated with Shotokan Karate of America (SKA), a non-profit, non-commercial organization with more than 100 clubs around North America, as well as affiliates in 13 countries overseas. We attend several exchange practices at other universities each year and our members can even practice for free at other SKA-affiliated dojos while away from campus. Our practice involves physical and mental conditioning, self-defense, and, ultimately, becoming a better human being. The club community is very welcoming, and we are always working together to help each other learn and improve. We meet three times a week (Mon. 7-9 pm, Wed. 7-9 pm, and Sat. 10 am-12 pm), and members are welcome to come whatever day or days are easiest for them. We welcome Columbia University students, faculty, and staff of all experience levels who have a Dodge Fitness Center membership—to join us and challenge their minds and bodies.
