Jeffrey D. Sachs is a globally recognized economics professor, sustainable development leader, UN advisor, bestselling author, and columnist. His influential monthly columns appear in over 100 countries. Sachs received the 2015 Blue Planet Prize and was twice named among Time Magazine's 100 most influential world leaders. Formerly the Director of the Earth Institute at Columbia University, Sachs led a large organization supporting sustainable development. He established the Masters of Development Practice program and the PhD in Sustainable Development at Columbia. As a University Professor, Quetelet Professor of Sustainable Development, and Professor of Health Policy and Management, Sachs contributes to academia. Renowned for expertise in economic development, macroeconomics, and poverty eradication, Sachs has advised numerous heads of state globally. He collaborates with the Vatican on sustainable development and has vast international experience in over 125 countries.
