Faculty Profile: Helen Lu

Professor Helen Lu

Helen Lu

Professor, Biomedical Engineering

“In my own lab, more than half a dozen undergraduates are routinely trained every semester, where they become proficient in basic lab techniques while also receiving credit for their work. Furthermore, undergraduates co-author papers in my lab all the time; each of my undergraduate researchers has the chance to pursue an independent project and to contribute to publications.”

Professor Lu is the director of the Biomaterials and Interface Tissue Engineering Laboratory. Her studies focus on the design of materials that can replace biological functions, such as reconstructing a stronger and longer-lasting anterior cruciate ligament (ACL).
