Meet Our Students

From the Lions Mouth
“My residential hall experience has definitely been one of the best parts of my first year here at Columbia. I live in John Jay Hall, where the vast majority of students have a single room. I love having a personal space while also living in an extremely social setting. Our floor lounge is always full of people, and there have been many times where my friends and I have sat down in the middle of the hallway to talk. People often leave their doors open, which allows me to chat with my floormates between classes and ask them how their day is going. Through my first-year floor, I have made some of my closest friends, with whom I can both joke around and engage in serious discussions on campus issues, literature, current events, etc. This wonderful combination testifies to Columbia's unique mix of an intellectual and social community.”
